Shirley is a children’s author, editor, and consultant. Shirley wrote six new books this year. Check them out on the books page. Take a look at the book for librarians, too. It’s Teaching STEM and Common Core with Mentor Texts: Collaborative Lesson Plans, K-5, from ABC-Clio.

She’s also edited many books for Crabtree Publishing.

Shirley writes teacher guides to accompany books. She recently wrote the guide for Astrotwins’ Project Blastoff by astronaut Mark Kelly from Simon & Schuster.

She also consulted on the science for the children’s adaptation of Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz from Simon & Schuster.

Other guides have included debut authors with books out soon.
